学院的前身是创建于1974年的佳木斯医学院口腔医学系，是国内最早建立的六所口腔医学院（系）之一，是国内第六家、东北三省最早建立的口腔专科医院，也是目前黑龙江省唯一的三级甲等口腔专科医院。
2007年口腔医学专业被教育部确定为国家特色专业，2009年被教育部认定具有专业学位研究生招生资格，2010年开始招收口腔医学硕士专业学位研究生。2009年挂牌成立了佳木斯市口腔医学会、佳木斯市口腔病防治中心，被省规划办确定为全省唯一的口腔医学教育科学研究基地，2016年被省卫计委认定为省级住院医师规范化培训基地。2020年获批国家住院医师规范化培训基地建设单位，也是目前黑龙江省唯一一个口腔医学类国家级住院医师规范化培训基地。同年，学院科研实验室获批黑龙江省生物医学材料及临床应用省级重点实验室。2021年口腔医学专业获批国家本科一流专业建设点。2023年获批国家级口腔医学重点临床专科建设单位。2024年获批中国牙病防治基金会临床技能培训基地、黑龙江省颅颌面骨缺损修复临床医学研究中心。
The college originated from the Department of Stomatology of Jiamusi Medical College, established in 1974, and is one of the six earliest-established dental colleges (departments) in China. It represents the sixth specialized dental hospital in China, the earliest in the three northeastern provinces, and is currently the only Grade A, Level 3 specialized dental hospital in Heilongjiang Province.
In 2007, the Stomatology program was designated as a National Distinctive Specialty by the Ministry of Education. In 2009, it was recognized by the Ministry of Education as qualified to enroll professional degree postgraduate students, and began recruiting Master of Stomatology (professional degree) students in 2010. Also in 2009, the Jiamusi Stomatological Society and the Jiamusi Oral Disease Prevention and Treatment Center were established under its affiliation. It was designated by the Provincial Planning Office as the only stomatology education scientific research base in the province. In 2016, it was recognized as a provincial standardized residency training base by the Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission.
In 2020, it was approved as a national standardized residency training base construction unit, and remains the only national-level standardized residency training base for stomatology in Heilongjiang Province. That same year, the college's research laboratory was approved as the Heilongjiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Biomedical Materials and Clinical Applications. In 2021, the Stomatology program was approved as a National First-Class Undergraduate Program construction site. In 2023, it was approved as a national key clinical specialty construction unit in stomatology. In 2024, it was designated as a clinical skills training base by the China Oral Health Foundation and as the Heilongjiang Provincial Clinical Medical Research Center for Craniomaxillofacial Bone Defect Rehabilitation.
